Breeder Specializing in Lady Gouldian Finches and Bird Supplies Hi, My name is Terri and I am a hobby lady gouldian finch breeder. To say I have a passion for lady gouldian finches is a major understatement. I have over 200 birds and have pairs breeding year round. I breed all color mutations of gouldians and am in a constant state of change and working to improve my stock each generation. I am a member of Save the Gouldian Fund, National Finch and Softbill Society, American Federation of Aviculture and Society of Canary and Finch Breeders of Michigan.I have spent countless hours reading and researching the care of finches and particularly Lady Gouldian Finches and feel confident I can share this knowledge with others who may enjoy lady gouldian finch keeping. I have a microscope and do my own fecals to ensure my birds are as healthy as I can. The care of lady gouldian finches can be confusing and complex. I will do what I can to help you find a simple system that works for you and cares properly for you gouldians. I will guarantee the health of my birds for 30 days providing a few requirements, first that you give fresh food and water daily, second that you keep them in a clean cage where perches and bottom paper is changed daily and most importantly, you notify me at the first sign of a problem! I also ask that they be kept separate from any other birds you may have and are quarantined. To be a keeper of lady gouldian finches is to become an expert in poopology and requires a few hours of observation daily. Bobbing tails, red legs, drooping wings, watery droppings, yellow droppings, dark green droppings, sleeping during the day or droppings that smell are all important things to watch for! This is a hobby and as in any hobby requires you to purchase certain tools of the trade so to speak. This is not a hobby for those without some disposable income. They can be costly to keep properly. Gouldian finches love to fly and need an adequate sized cage to do so. I would suggest a cage that is a minimum of 30" wide. However, the wider the better:) They do require regular parasite treatments and you should have an emergency kit of antibiotics and medications in case they should fall ill or get hurt. I heard once, the more exotic and beautiful the bird...the more difficult it is to keep in a cage. It is a great and challenging hobby for those with the time and money to devote to it! Could that be you? Please support the Save The Gouldian Fund. The lady gouldian finch is an endangered species and needs our help. The site is full of useful information on nutrition and gouldians in the wild. Why not stop in and sponsor a wild gouldian family with a nest box? Or become a member. If we all do a little, together we can accomplish alot. ![]() TopSiteLists
